If you choose to use supplements, think about their purpose and how this fits with your needs at any given moment of your training day/week. For instance, taking a protein shake after an easy run is not usually useful. This would be better after a high-intensity workout where your muscles have undergone stress, and you want to support fast and efficient recovery.
